We support using public funds to buy / demo / green space as many as possible. Try to connect them to the park system ... How about a hike, bike or a horse trail in city center.

I was thinking it would be nice to put the lights on 7th and Hamilton on a timer.

1. The street lights should be off during the day
2. The spot light on the Monument should be focused on the Monument and off during the day
3. The bill board on the Monument Center Building should be off from 11PM to 6AM

Lehigh County Courthouse Renovation - Hamilton and 4th

Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS) going up, up ...

I was making my way to the post office when I saw the crane lifting the EIFS - the quality of my picture does not show the measurement on the boom but trust me it was 110 ft!
They still had to lift the parapet but I had to get going so I missed that shot.

I contacted Allentown Recycles today to inquire about a recent grafitti attack and a dumpster that has been forgotten.

I heard the dumpster has been sitting there for three years!

How about that big chunk of concrete wall laying in the street?

Busy Day in Retail

I was walking around the neighborhood on Saturday and was supprised to see so many people out shopping. I needed a haircut so headed to the barber shop on 9th (btn Linden and Hamilton). Long queue of waiting patrons - the weather was warm and the sun bright and people were out spending money!

Fed's decision to cut rates by 50 basis points has been positive. The FOMC announced that it has cut the fed funds rate by 50 basis points to 3.00% and the discount rate by 50 basis points to 3.50%. Banks announced that they were cutting the prime rate from 6.5 percent down to 6 percent, the lowest level for the prime since the spring of 2005.

The lower rates should help the housing market. Get me another 100 basis points and I'll renovate my kitchen this summer -- but on a serious note the lower rates will reduce the financing cost of my renovation in Allentown.

I was in Allentown today. Spent a little time looking at at wreck on Linden. Measured the elevator machine room in our building and ran out the door to head back home.

Highlight of the day was to walk down Hamilton and see a full crowd at Johnny Manana’s (I wish I had time for lunch)!

As I wanted to catch the 1:30 bus - I decided to walk over to 9th St and visit La Belle Cuisine. I had recently learned of the store and made an online purchase and wanted to meet the owner Nancy O'Keefe. Glad I did - great store and Carol and Nancy are very nice people!

When I was waiting for my son to finish his wood working class I noticed the RR [Rolls Royce] being delivered. (that is the under construction 101 Warren Condo building and the Goldman Sachs Headquarters the background).
